So Savolainen , together withYa - Ping Zhangfrom the Kunming Institute of Zoology and an international team of research worker , sequenced the whole genomes of 58 members of the bounder class , Canidae . These include a twelve gray wolves , 23 indigenous dogs from northern and southerly East Asia , four hamlet dogs from Nigeria , and 19 breeds from around the humankind , include Afghan heel , Siberian huskies and Alaskan malemute , Chihuahuas and Peruvian nude dogs , Tibetan mastiffs , and the sloughi of northerly Africa .
For many organisms , their geographic root typically exhibits the great genetic diversity . The squad found that dogs from southerly East Asia have a much higher stage of transmitted diversity than any of the other dog studied , and they were the most tight related to gray wolves . That means domestic dogs likely originated in southern East Asia , and a universe genetical analytic thinking puts it at about 33,000 years ago .
The team believe that sometime around 15,000 age ago , a subset of dog ancestors began migrating from South China towards the Middle East and Africa , and they get through Europe about 10,000 years ago .
