Explaining their congenial family dynamic, Bush Hager toldTodayviewers last month that her parents helped instill her fun personality since she was young, asthey used to call her Benny and called her sister Beau.

“Because somebody said ‘Your twin boys are adorable’ and they actually came up with full names for us because they thought it was funny," she joked. “That, in turn, made me funny. If I was the cutest little girl, I might have been in pageants.”

Then in August, theEverything Beautiful in Its Time: Seasons of Love and Lossauthor noted to co-anchorHoda Kotbthat her parents were “creative birthday party planners."

For the twins' 16th birthday, they convinced the girls to head to school early, telling them they were going to get their driver’s licenses first thing in the morning as part of their sweet 16 celebrations.

“My parents were very creative birthday people, which was fun," she said. “But then it gets kind of awkward because it’s like [they have] the old boyfriend sitting next to the new boyfriend.”

“They invited both boyfriends?” Kotb questioned before adding, “Your parents are wild.”
