When I tell the great unwashed I ’m an engineer , they say “ you must be good at math . ” And although that may be on-key now , I actually had a difficult time with maths when I was young . I need extra help and tutoring . It did n’t fare to me of course and I had to work hard at it . It was n’t really until I went to college that I felt strong in my capability to do this eccentric of work ; and that come in from hard work , ask for help , and being set to figure it out . There was a lot of study and not much man - business leader and all of this was before we became formally onboarded to the Mars 2020 mission . Me being the young , plucky engineer that I was , thirstily and naively raised my hand because it was such a coolheaded project . After our group group meeting , I saw them waiting for me at the goal of the hallway , arms close down , and hazard serious looks on their typeface , facetiously taunting me .
