A 6-year-old boy from Georgia died last week after having asudden heart attack.
According to Brantley’sobituary, the first grader died at 8:53 p.m that evening.
According to theCDC,HLHS is incredibly rare, with only about 1 in every 4,344 babies in the country being born with the defect.
One day after her son’s death, Bryson shared a touching tribute on Facebook, calling Brantley “a true hero.”
“Word travels fast In a small town. As some of u know, Brantley gained his wings last night. It happened so quick there were tons of people left out but Thank u for all the calls, texts and prayers. They are greatly appreciated,” she wrote, alongside a smiling photo of her son on the baseball field.
“It’s going to be hard for years to do anything but especially these next couple days. I seriously don’t know what to do or how to live,” she added, before reflecting on her son’s congenital heart defect (CHD).
“I love u Beba!!! You are a true hero! You fought ur own internal battle til u couldn’t do it no more. Most people didn’t even know ur daily struggle,” she continued. U put up a very big fight and proved ur drs wrong so many times. U amazed me everyday. U were the strongest little man I knew. I bet u can run so much faster using ur flazing speed right now.”

According to his obituary, Brantley was an “outgoing little boy” who loved “playing baseball and was the catcher for the Rock Spring Mustangs.”
Additionally, he had a great love of the outdoors.
“When he was not playing baseball, Brantley could be found enjoying what the outdoors had to offer. He loved Hunting, fishing, spending time with his hunting dog “Boss”, riding four wheelers, and playing in the mud getting his boots dirty!” the obituary continued.
Funeral services will be held for Brantley on Sunday afternoon at the South Crest Chapel.
