Futurama ’s Hulu revivalhas seen the show carry on its love ofstories that comment on current events , while also incorporatingEaster eggsandcallbacks that reference its nearly 25 age of history . But while this week ’s sequence take on Amazon , the next installment offers a pure slicing of Planet Express nostalgia , with a storyline delving intoeveryone ’s favored sci - fi holiday scourge : Robot Santa Claus !
Futurama ’s homicidal take on Kris Kringle does n’t actually appear in this exclusive magazine from “ I Know What You Did Next Xmas ” io9 has to share today , but it does hold a cute collage showing the fibre getting into the vacation flavour .
Snowball fights , surly sweaters , mistletoe , snow — er , asbestos angels … all with a Futurama twirl . Then we rationalize from quick and muzzy to sad and alone , as Dr. Zoidberg and Bender contemplate what spending the holiday without any family looks like — and decide guzzle “ dumpster peg ” together is as expert a program as any . Where does Robot Santa Claus fit in , other than looming large over any December calendar ? Here ’s the official precis for the episode , with spoilers removed at the end :

“ Xmas season is come up , so once again , evil Robot Santa will be delivering his one-year attack . We see an animated TV vacation special that remind us how Robot Santa ’s programming failed on his very first livery , back in 2801 , and ever since then he ’s been erroneously judging everyone to be ‘ NAUGHTY . ’ The Professor decides to terminate this put-on once and for all ! Santa can not be assail … except through TIME . So the Professor reveals he has restored his old prison term auto ( from classic episode 6.07 , ‘ The previous Philip J. Fry ’ ) . His architectural plan is to go back in meter to 2801 and reverse Santa ’s spicy sensor so it will function correctly . It ’s a nervus - wracking assault , but … he come through ! It will be the first happy Xmas in centuries !
In honor of the social function , the whole Planet Express crew takes Xmas hebdomad off , and everyone hold up to spend time with their kinsperson . In the general excitation , Bender and Zoidberg are left behind , having no crime syndicate to go home to . They are lonely and bitter . Their bitterness lead to drinking ( ‘ dumpster nog ’ ) , and they soon become drunk and end up bind for the first clock time in series story . Then they get tempestuous … if they ca n’t have a nice Xmas , they will ruin it for everyone else ! They decide to kidnap Santa , but the offence run dreadfully awry … ”
