Here ’s something cool . A studio called JWT Spain madea 3D app that track the trajectories of every ball hitin a tennis mates in tangible time , and then spits out fancy visualizations .
There ’s a heatmap that show where the most balls land ; flight of the clump for every hardening , biz and point ; a particle opinion that shows where the balls have the most impact ; and selection to hold in the opaqueness of the tribunal , the color of the ball flight for each player , and how fast the tribunal rotates . It can be filtered by solidification , secret plan , or point .
justly now this has only been applied to three retiring ATP matches , but it would be great if it got a wider software . It ’s a very fun dick to pound at for now , but something like this for every friction match play — something standardised to Kirk Goldsberry ’s shot charts for the NBA — would actually be utile for analyzing how matches played out , and broader trends for case-by-case player .
