The film adaptation of TV ’s worst superhero show , The Greatest American Hero , starts filming in July , says theatre director Steven Herek ( The Mighty Ducks ) . And Herek wants “ name ” histrion to trifle the instructor who gets superpowers from an alien suit and his main bane . The good news : the movie version ’s precis actually has some potential to be way more interesting than the tops - dull tv set show .
In the movie version , just like on TV , Ralph Hinkley is a eminent - shoal history instructor chosen by extraterrestrial being to guard humanity and wear a super - suit . But he loses the suit ’s instructions and flies around crash into things . The flick also includes peevish FBI agentive role Bill Maxwell , a major supporting mould member in the video version . The movie adds a baddie , Harvey Lundy , who ’s another schoolteacher chosen by malevolent stranger to help them striptease - mine the planet . Lundy and Hinkley wind up having a super - powered affaire d’honneur to the death . The movie also adds a love sake for Hinkley .
I rented the DVDs of the goggle box show a couple of years ago , and wound up bringing them back early , because the observation - piddle - furuncle storylines were so hard to sit through . But adding a supervillain , backed by his own set of aliens with their own schedule , gives the movie at least some electric potential to rise from nasty to watchable . perchance . [ MovieWeb ]
