Google ’s Nexus Q was suppose to be the thing that legitimized Google TV , taking it from comical TV feature article to a fluid accession to Google ’s service . Instead , it flop , then never even come out . So Asus decided to make its own cyclosis box seat .
The Qube ’s big feature seems to be its motion sense via an “ forward-looking outback control ” , which is used to manipulate the port on “ a rotating on - screen square block shape ” on the concealment . It also use vocalism control for navigation and search , and sort through Netflix and Amazon Instant Video movies and TV shows . It ’ll also diddle game and apps from the Google Play store . That means it ’s already start a leg up on Apple telly — one of its principal competitors — by being undetermined to the app memory .
There ’s also a Mobile Remote app for Android phones and tablet to hold the Qube , but we want to see how that sustain up under daily use , since those tend to be pretty finicky ( e.g. Microsoft ’s SmartGlass ) .

The reason boxes like the Qube or the Nexus Q are so promising is that Google TV ’s been practically beg for a successful extraneous machine to put it on any TV with an HDMI embrasure , instead of being confined to only those TVs it ’s preloaded on . This should help along all-encompassing adaptation , which in turn would aid meliorate content . And Asus being first out the logic gate , before Nexus Q relaunches ( f ever ) , would mean that there will be a mass of these come . That ’ll be a split worry for us , but it ’s the glide slope that made Android as pop as it is today .
We ’ll countenance you know as we have more inside information about the Qube , but for now , we ’re hope there ’s finally a reason for most of us to use Google TV .
