HTC ’s got quite the humble light crap-shooter with their newHTC One , thanks to its telling UltraPixel photographic camera . So what ’s the best direction to test it ? Take it out for a night on the town . Samuel Morgan , political party lensman and possessor / manipulator ofThe Photo Booth Party , took the HTC One with him to see Rebecca , Amanda , Rachel , and Alice ( aka , the Roulettes ) play at a DIY - rock show deep in Brooklyn — and see what it could do . As a non - Android user for many , many years , I ’ve been hesitant to stray , but this experience changed all of that . For a phone with a really big screen , the HTC One did n’t feel bulky or heavy . It even jibe in my ( semi - slim - fit jean ) pocket with easiness .
The camera on the One feel like have ten double redaction / filtration apps all in one place . I especially enjoyed how you’re able to lend oneself image styles and filtration while fool away . The sensitivity to lighting is alone — and we reeeeally put it to the test in a drear loft show in Bushwick .
This first nip was taken at the top end of a crew of barb made in speedy succession . release off the trope review combined with the One ’s super profligate processor makes it so comfortable to take a short ton of shot and critique them later .

This was one of my favorite look for shooting the Roulettes during their set . The filtration transformed the dimly lit stage into an almost black - lit glow of blues and red ink .

The black - and - white mode looked really , really good in the crack low ignitor . Even though the stage was ignite with just a few little clamp lights with 40 - James Watt bulbs , the One was able to conquer the Roulettes in action .
The sepia tone filtration in this shooting I liked almost as much as the blackamoor - and - white . The subtle vignetting around the edge was perfect for a guessing with pot of negatively charged space .
I could n’t get over how , even in the darkest light conditions , I was still capable to get pretty clear shots even as the lot was run around the stage .
As this was the Roulettes ’ last show with farsighted - prison term drummer , Amanda , I want to make indisputable to take some “ conventional ” band portrait . We wandered down into the creepy basement of the venue ( one of the only area with a little light ) and , in true Roulettes style , they managed to make it front pretty . The vignetting and chromaticity shift characteristic build into the One ’s camera app were pure for this space because it had a nasty yellow light .
This filter added a blue tint to the phantasm , which really helped intone down the overly yellowed visible light in the creepy venue cellar .
The focus sketch ( and ability to increase or minify the size of it ) while shooting was really coolheaded . I ’m still astonished at how these snap came out in such a dark stairwell .
I wanted to be sure to include the peace - loving exotic monsters hanging out on either side of the stria , so the power to alter the vista ratio in - television camera came in William Christopher Handy .
Alice was not just wearing an eyepatch to finger especially pirate - y , she actually injured her eye . I ingest several jibe of her because she looked cool , but the black - and - snowy I with flash were best , by far . I was super impressed with how , even at closelipped mountain chain , the flash meter was post on , and produced a crispy , liquid image .
Combining filters was fun . I detest dusty green ignitor , so skewing the hue shift towards magenta was an easy root for the rough , fluorescent visible radiation . After take the shot , I bestow the focussing vignette to play your eye to the eye of the double and smutch out part of the roll - down gate behind the band .
